The talented goalkeeper Filip Nguyen recently updated the situation of applying for Vietnamese nationality through online exchanges with fans.
Through an online exchange with fans on his personal page, Filip Nguyen revealed: “My naturalization procedure is missing one last step, I need a permanent residence card. I have to go back to Vietnam to complete this, but from now until the end of the year it is not possible.”
Accordingly, to have a permanent residence card, Filip Nguyen must return to live in Vietnam, apply for a new card to complete the citizenship application. This has become an obstacle for Filip Nguyen because he is busy with the Slovan Liberec club training, preparing a new season, including conquering the Europa League.
After the end of last season, Filip Nguyen plans to return to Vietnam before starting the new season on August 22. However, this was not possible due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He said: "If I can go back, I have to quarantine for 2 weeks. Of course, there is no flight at this time".
The World Cup qualifiers moved to 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic influence, so Filip Nguyen's chance to participate is intact. It is likely that Filip Nguyen will arrange a time to return to Vietnam at the end of 2020 to complete the application for a permanent residence card, because he himself has very much wanted to play for Vietnam.
Besides, when asked if he would return to play for a local club, Filip Nguyen affirmed that in the near future, his goal is to play in the Bundesliga.
