Recently, the Malaysian Football Federation announced a plan to focus on the national team to prepare for the 2022 World Cup qualifying in Asia next year.

As previously reported, FIFA and AFC have rescheduled the match schedule of the 2022 World Cup in Asia to 2021. Along with that, there will be 6 "FIFA Days" in the coming year.

For Vietnam, this can be bad news when the schedule and preparation process of Park Hang-seo will be disturbed. However, for other teams this is good news for Malaysia, a direct competitor to Vietnam.

The World Cup 2022 qualifying moving next year will give coach Tan Cheng Hoe more time to prepare and plan to surpass Vietnam. Besides, his players will also have more time to regain their form after a very long break.

Recently, to anticipate the rematch with the Vietnamese team, likely to take place in the period from January 24 to February 1, 2001, the Malaysian team is expected to focus in November.

Sharing on the NST, coach Tan Cheng Hoe said: “I want the players to gather and practice together, accompanied by an international friendly match, under the conditions allowed by the authorities."

Currently, Malaysia is ranked 2nd in Group G with 2 points less than Vietnam. The direct confrontation between the two teams at the Bukit Jalil Stadium is likely to determine the ticket to continue in this group.
