FAT and Nishino have reached an agreement on the 2-year contract, with a salary that double Park Hang-seo’s.
The Thai Football Federation (FAT) and coach Akira Nishino have agreed in renewing the new contract yesterday. Accordingly, the Japanese strategist will work in Thailand for 2 more years, with a salary of up to 2.75 million baht / month ($90,000USD).
This is almost double the salary of Vietnam coach. The Thai Football Federation is very willing to pay and will have to prepare about 2 million USD to pay coach Akira Nishino for 2 years, the highest salary in the country's football history.
The Japanese leader has just led the Thai U23 team to the quarter finals of AFC U23 Championship 2020. They could not reach their goal of winning tickets to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as being defeated by Saudi Arabia U23. However, the achievement of going through the group stage can be considered a success of Nishino, because they are in the same group with very strong opponents such as U23 Australia or U23 Iraq.
The majority of Thai players attending the U23 Asian Championship in 2020 are also the players who played in the last SEA Games. At the same time, Akira Nishino believes that this is also the framework for Thailand to the 2026 World Cup: "During the past 4 matches, we have gained a lot of experience.
