Yusuf Hussain Al Sahlawi is the Vice President of the UAE Football Federation and chair of the National Team Committee. He recently shared the reason UAEFA terminated his contract with coach Jovanovic.
"In the short time the UAE Football Federation did not have many options after the dismissal of coach Bert Van Marwijk, so we found coach Jovanovic as a temporary solution and the contract is only 6 months to help UAE complete the first phase of the World Cup 2022 Qualifiers.

The UAE is currently ranked fourth in Group G of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. They are required to win 12 points to get the chance to continue. Al Sahlawi affirmed that he would create the most favorable conditions to build a new coaching team with strong personality and towards the goals.
