The preparation of Malaysia for the match against Vietnam in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Asia is facing many obstacles.

In Group G of 2022 World Cup in Asia, Vietnam and Malaysia are the two teams with many advantages when they occupy the top two positions in this group. The upcoming face-to-face confrontation between the two teams at the Bukit Jalil Stadium will most likely determine the team advancing to the last qualifying round.

However, the preparation for this important match of Malaysia is facing many difficulties.

Coach Tan Cheng Hoe is planning to gather the team in June. However, it is likely that he will not have the strongest force because the clubs will not release its players.

Speaking to the New Strait Times, coach Tan Cheng Hoe said:

“If the clubs decide not to release players, I will have to find other options. As a coach, I would like to have the best players report for centralised training. I hope things will get better. I just have to wait until it is really safe out there."

“The only worry here is the schedule. We might have a tighter schedule and this might lead to injuries when the football season resumes. We have to prepare for all possibilities. I also need to have a bigger pool of players.”

Malaysia was set to host Vietnam on March 31. However, FIFA has postponed the 2022 World Cup Qualifier in March and June and reorganized in October and November. It is expected that Malaysia vs Vietnam will take place on October 13, 2020.

Currently, Malaysia is only 2 points behind Vietnam. Therefore. Tan Cheng Hoe certainly wants to win to take advantage of this group. This promises to be a very tense match of two representatives from Southeast Asia.
